So far I've read every book in this series. In my review of book 7 I noted that I felt it really should have ended after book 4, and that the later ones had not added much. I was particularly disappointed in book 7, which played a bit too much to a power-creep that disappointed me.Book 8 mostly redeems that problem. Overall its not much different from the rest of the series. The "avatars" from the previous book have an occasion to meet a new avatar (in this case 2 women based off of Beauty and the Beast). there is a segue into a long flashback as the new avatar explains her history and how she found her love. And then a climatic battle that involves all the avatars fighting whatever demon they have been chasing in this book.
And the formula plays out strongly here. There are a couple of new twists, but the tale doesn't really bring up any new plot twists.
That said this is well written and there was a closure to the story that lifted it well above books 5, 6 and 7 in the series. I'm happy to have read it.
The fact that a book 9 was telegraphed however.... I haven't decided on yet.

While I'm a little disappointed with the length, I loved this book. Fantastic continuation of this series. And, without spoiling anything, pretty much everything that happened in the epilogue was amazing D
What with how the last book ended, I was worried about this one. No spoilers, but good holy Hell, this book was good. I loved the new Avatars. And their journey.
Plus, oh goodness, The brothers Grimm.
Just read it, I know you won't be disappointed.
Another great story with just enough of a hint in the next story to make you want to know what will happen next. The reworking of this story is great. There is also a redemption in a small way, and quite a bit is explained. Can't wait to see what the next book will bring along.
Awesome story. This was the first one I read of the series and I have now gone back and started reading the others. 🙂 Erik Schubach never seems to disappoint me.
I so enjoyed this book,, I am really hoping that these will keep coming.. The love of friends, and standing together thru every battle to save each other and the innocent is heart warming..
Another great story. Others have attempted to put a spin on the Grimm characters but no one does it like Erik. You love his characters and curse the brothers along with them. Great book and not a talking tea set in sight, can't wait for the next one.
I love these stories! It is just so fascinating to see how the old fables get twisted and reworked into such amazing and exciting tales. The characters are so familiar yet so new and captivating. I love Belle and Illiya. Such engaging and wonderful characters. An amazing blend of innocence and dangerous. I can't wait to see more of them. This was and ending and yet a beginning as well. Really looking forward to see what comes next!
